I’ve been on a ginger kick lately. I’m recovering from a gluten/sugar bender that has sent my body into full autoimmune flare mode. I have been doing all the things to try to recover as fast as possible, including drinking ginger tea-despite the 110 degree temperature outside.
Not being one to waste some perfectly good ginger pieces used in tea, I have been adding them to smoothies. I think I have discovered a new family favorite around here.
Ginger + strawberry = <3
Ginger pairs perfectly strawberry in this smoothie to give just enough spice and sweet. I promise you can’t taste the spinach or avocado. The avocado just makes the smoothie creamy without adding banana. And spinach is my favorite for green smoothies since it doesn’t alter the taste.
If you haven’t jumped on the green smoothie wagon, it’s time. It’s an easy and tasty way to get you and your kids some greens without noticing. I have about 10 of these smoothie pouches for my kids so they can’t see the green hue of their smoothies. I often serve a green smoothie as a snack or as a dinner side after a long day.
Green smoothies make life and filling kids with greens so easy.
If you have leftovers, pour into popsicle molds. The kids (grown ups too!) always get excited for popsicle on a hot day.
Give this smoothie a try and you won’t regret it. Get a healthy dose of spinach without the need for dairy or other alternate milk. If you enjoy this smoothie, you are sure to love this green mango smoothie as well. It only has five ingredients.

- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Yield: 3 cups 1x
Description
A dairy free, paleo strawberry smoothie with spinach and avocado you can’t taste. A must have for any day!
Ingredients
- 1 + 1/4 cups water
- 1 cup or 1 handful of spinach
- 2 tablespoons raw cashews
- 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled
- 1/2 large avocado (or one small)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 cups frozen strawberries
Instructions
- Add all ingredients in blender in order listed.
- Blend for 45-90 seconds until smooth.
Notes
I use a high-speed blender to make sure everything is completely smooth. If you don’t have a high-speed blender, the spinach will blend better if you blend alone, with water first before adding any other ingredients.
If you don’t want to use raw cashews, you can replace the cashews and water with your favorite milk.
